Hiking and cycling
Rastatt offers good opportunities for long walks. The beautiful "Murgrunde" starts in the city center. Over many bridges, the length of the walk can be determined individually. If you feel like an extended walk, you can extend it to Steinmauern. There the Murg flows into the Rhine.
The "Ötigheimer Wald" serves as a local recreation area and offers several kilometers of hiking trails. Likewise, hikes are possible in the Rastatter Rheinauen. These are under nature protection and are the last intact and large floodplains in Europe. In the surroundings of Rastatt there are small and large hiking routes.
Cycling
In and around Rastatt, beautiful bike paths await cycling enthusiasts. Both recreational cyclists, bike travelers and cyclists will find good conditions here. Those who are on the road for a longer period of time can stay overnight in certified bed & bike accommodations. The cycling tour network around Rastatt is equally well suited for rallies - stay overnight in Rastatt and cycle in the region.
The adventure bike tour "Tour de Murg" is 67 km long and leads from Freudenstadt to Rastatt. The bike path is signposted in both directions. Up the valley, cyclists can expect some challenges. But in the other direction, too, the route can be mastered in a relaxed manner: Simply take the city train to Freudenstadt and from there cycle through the Murg Valley back to Rastatt.
The Pamina Cycle Path Rhine Floodplains is 130 km long and runs on both sides of the German-French border between Rheinmünster-Greffern/Drusenheim and Leimersheim/Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen. On the French side, the bike path is asphalted throughout; on the German side, it runs mostly on the graveled banks of the Rhine. A total of four Rhine ferries connect the two sides of the Rhine. The route is almost flat and away from traffic and therefore also suitable for families.
The EuroVelo 15 Rhine Cycle Route connects the source of the Rhine in Switzerland with the North Sea in the Netherlands. Accessible to all ages, the bike path runs for 1,320 kilometers along the Rhine and is suitable for cyclists of all fitness levels and abilities.
