It is a local recreation area in the middle of the city of Rastatt: the Murg. Especially in summer, the old chestnut and linden trees along the Dammweg invite you to stay in the shade. And when you take a break on one of the benches, there is much to discover. Because of the renaturation, the Murg offers a unique diversity for plants and animals. Swans, gray herons, and storks are just a few of the many animals that reside along the Murg.
Those who like it sporty and prefer to use the Murg dam for a jog can round off their workout at the chalisthenics facility on the Murg. Families with children can combine their walk with a visit to a playground along the Murg. And directly adjacent to the Murg are the green spaces Murgpark or the Pagoda Castle complex.
Two and a half meters wide, the same height throughout, and equipped with benches and trash cans. This is what all the already rehabilitated sections of the Murg Dam look like. Every year, the city renovates at least one section of the path, making it barrier-free. In addition, the Murg is part of the 2036 state garden show concept, in the course of which the quality of stay along the Murg dam paths is to be further improved.
