Victims of Prussian Bombardment
The siege by Prussian troops caused fear and terror in Rastatt. The civilian population in particular suffered from the primarily nighttime bombardment, while the military buildings suffered hardly any damage. The Rastatt fire department had its hands full during this time.
Today's cultural forum was also hit by a grenade. Josephine Greiser, a resident of the building at the time, died within a few hours. Her husband Anton also succumbed to his injuries a few days later. The Greisers and the cultural forum are thus representative of the many civilian victims during the days and nights of the revolution.
